The Scene
The biggest conglomeration of shopping ops between the Twin Cities and Winnipeg, this mall also serves as a community gathering spot for Northern Minnesota and nearby Wisconsin and Michigan. After it was built circa 1970, retail in downtown Duluth collapsed, and all the action moved "up the hill." Here you'll find mall walkers (it's a great spot on those 10-below mornings), school choir performances, and all manner of shows and special events.

The Stores
Anchored by JC Penney, Sears and Younkers (a mid-priced store owned by Saks Inc.), this one-level hilltop mall has the typical range of chain stores, including American Eagle Outfitters, Barnes & Noble, Wilsons the Leather Experts and Zales Jewelers. The more than 100 stores are arranged in a skewed L shape that's easy to navigate.
