The service here is the best in town. The servers are friendly, respectful and good looking. I highly recommend this restaurant. Not to mention the food is great!
- Pros: Great food and service
- Cons: Small area
Slow-smoked barbecue and down-home sides dished up in a roadhouse setting.

In Short
Famous Dave's recipes began as a hobby for Dave Anderson, who opened his first 'cue shack in Hayward, Wisc., in 1994. Now a national phenomenon, the restaurants cater to diners who dig into finger-licking-tasty meat. The menu features chopped pork, Texas brisket, baby back ribs and fire-kissed chicken slathered with signature sauces like vinegary Georgia Mustard. Entrees, some of which arrive atop a garbage can lid, come with corn on the cob, drunken apples, baked beans or slaw.
I'm a brisket nut!!

Yes, I do love brisket. Tender, juicy, pile it high on a bun, drench it in sauce -- I AM a happy camper. The first time I walked into the Duluth - Canal Park location, there was a crowd of Coast Guard personnel going in. I couldn't have asked for a better recommendation! My companion and I were seated at a table that had no less than six different, very tasty sauces. My favorites were a mixture of Devil's Split (delete the "L" in "Split" because this website won't allow the actual word) and the Sweet and Tangy, along with my usual splashes of Tabasco. Provided at tableside was a huge roll of paper towels. Sweet! I knew we were in for a good slop-fest! We both ordered the Brisket Sandwich. It was huge and fantastic! The side of potato salad was just enough to compliment and cool me down from my beloved Tabasco. The side of slaw is also tasty. Everything seems to be made fresh, not sitting around from the previous day's service. To top off our meal we ordered the fudge brownie ala mode. Gawd, it was rich! We ordered one to share, but should have gotten two and just stuffed ourselves stupid. I am quite happy to announce that a Famous Dave's will be opening in my hometown. Can't wait!
- Pros: Good food; close to the boat action in Canal Park
- Cons: Music's a bit loud
ummmm, pork sandwich

What can I say? I love this place!!!!! Try just about anything on the menu and see how quickly you fall in love. It is on the spendy side and they are kind of stingy with the side items, but the ribs, sandwiches, and all the other main entrees are excellent. I love the cornbread muffins that come with the meal, but the corn on the cob kind of sucks. Anyway, get a chopped pork sandwich, put on the Devil's Spit bbq sauce, get full, and walk back across the bridge to a cozy stay at the South Pier Inn.
- Pros: BBQ!!!!, blues music, party-like atmosphere
