Go ahead eat at the jade I dare ya!!!. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

Please learn from my mistake.

We went here for dinner a couple of nights ago and I don't normally write reviews but!!! I have actually thought about it and I hope I can save you some time, money and frustration with my review. I had general so's chicken, my wife had sweet and sour chicken and my daughter had the fish, I'll comment on these dishes one at a time. Now I like the generals chicken from just about any place I get it from but here it was so salty I only ate 2 pieces of chicken I'm not talking about a little salty I'm talking incredibly salty so on to the fried rice. I had pork fried rice that was mushy and sticky like it was boiled and not fried in a wok. My wife's sweet and sour chicken was half raw and gelitan like in the middle her fried rice was sticky and mushy as well. Now my daughter had the fish which was verry under cooked like still cold and partially froze in the middle. Now keep in mind 3 dinners for 3 people and all were bad, I grew up here in Duluth and had eatin there probably 10 years ago and the food wasn't to bad but that has obviously since changed. The wait staff were nice up until the time I made the complaint then this little oriental lady came out with an attitude from hell, I told her I shouldn't have to pay for this awful rotten meal, she said in a verry broken English voice "you ate some you must pay"!!! So NEVER again will I eat there. And because of her attitude and the poor food quality it will be my goal to never recommend the jade fountain to any one and I will write all the bad reviews I can.

buffet is decient. ive been eating there sence i was a kid and the food is normally good. some times its not that great (overcooked) but othertimes its outstanding.

i suggest going durring the buffet, there isnt may options but its cheap. if you go for dinner it gets very expensive in a hurry.

Worst food I've ever had. Apparently the reviewer before this was drastically being a smarta$$ because this restaurant is easily the worst I have ever been to. I have never in my life sent food back, until tonight.

It is a dingy little restaurant that looks like a bar when you first walk in, then to the right is the "chinese" section. Here's what we had:

Soup of the Day which was Chicken and Rice Soup. This tasted like canned Chicken and Stars and was probably the best thing of the evening. (That is NOT a compliment)

An eggroll with Sweet and Sour: The eggroll was okay, nothing to get excited about. The sweet and sour sauce tasted just like the cheap fake McDonald's stuff.

Our son had the Chicken Nuggets and Fries. They looked and tasted like the cheapest possible frozen nuggets and fries you can get at any sleazy grocery store.

My partner and I both ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken which came with White Rice.

It was absolutely disgusting. The meat was bits of dark meat,,, NOT white meat. It was fried in a tasteless batter. The worst part was it didn't look or taste like chicken. I bit into my first piece, with a disgusting fatty grease mess literally exploding in my mouth. It tasted absolutely disgusting. I gagged it down to see my partner making just about the same face. We BOTH cold not eat it.

We returned our uneaten chicken to be asked if we wanted anything else. At any other restaurant I would trust to order something I might like, but there was no way I was trusting anything else from this place.

I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. Okay... maybe I would. But I would really really really have to dislike them.

All in all..... stay away unless you like guessing what you're eating. Andrew Zimmerman from Bizarre Foods wouldn't even have been able to gag this stuff down.

Jade Fountain. Not Romantic?!?!?!? Me and my life partner, Juan, make the trip to the Jade Fountain weekly....I find it to be the most romantic Chinese restaurant in the upper midwest...Nothing turns us on more than the smell of fried rice and egg rolls. Speaking of egg rolls....I love French toast. Anyway, I highly recommend the Jade Fountain for all gay people.

PS...Don't eat the cream cheese wontons...it burns on the way out.

Great Value. This place has THE best Chinese food in all of Northern Minnesota. Worth the drive from the Brainerd Lakes Area to eat in an old style, sit down and order Chinese restaurant. Food quality reminds me of the old Nanking in downtown Minneapolis before City Center...if not better and is consistant between visits. Seems like there are literally hundreds of meal choices.

Bar patrons tend to be a tad seedy but lend character to the place. Sit in the separate dining room if you are the nervous type.

The best. The Jade is the best place in Duluth for Chinese and American food. The service is excellent and the waitresses are friendly and helpful. If you liked Joe Huie's jumbo fried shimp, you'll love it at the Jade.
