Nordic Waste is a GREAT company- why waste your $ elsewhere?

I am an emplyee of Nordic Waste. I am the guy that picks up your recycling- the can with the copper lid- that guy who comes and empties that can ,is me. I read these reviews and honestly some of them make me feel guilty. I do not mean to miss a paying customer on my weekly route- Ever! You are the reason I have a good job in the first place and no disrespect is meant whatsoever. As a driver for Nordic it's hard for me not to be biased, but let me say I left a fantastic company to work for Nordic and I am proud of that simply because of what a service Nordic attempts to offer this community. As a one year veteran of this company, I have just mastered my weekly residential routes. So if I am still at this point dissapointing a customer in their expectations- I would appreciate your constructive critisism, yet please know at any rate, I am commited to doing my job to the best of my abilities to better represent this wonderful company. My focus now is to be sure that all of your needs are met, including any extra material left out (that doesn't fit in the can) or any messes made by acts of nature or animals as I deal with that myself at home (racoons!!) Please do your part as a customer of Nordic and let me know how I can improve your experience as one of our valued customers. Leave me a note on this site or your recycle container and I promise to listen to your concerns and see what I can do to help- Regardless of the situation. ( But please- no glass bottles on top of your recycle cart!- they break all over) And to any responder whom has a strange affliction to Bill Bailey- you are on your own with that one. Bill is an upstanding, hilarious friend, and I am sorry you never got to know that. Thanks again to our loyal customers!

Great, inexpensive service

I've had their service for about 4 years or so now, and I just love the customer service I get. I just checked rates today, to see what other companies are charging, and as mentioned by other reviewers, Waste Mgt is more - $4/mo more! And Hartel's is a little bit more too, though I don't know if the price listed is before or after taxes...

At any rate, as long as we're considerate and put our cans out properly, we get great service. Just don't leave them by your garage, or the drivers get testy and put the cans back haphazardly ;-) That's all on our end as customers, not a reflection of the employees tho - I'd be mad to if I had to slow down my schedule and specially haul out someone's trash because they forgot!

Again, great company, glad someone fights for local biz and the little guy!!!

We need Nordic Waste -- they are great!

We moved to Duluth 9 months ago and had 3 options for refuse services. Waste Mgmt. (WM) was 30% higher and Hartel's/DBJ was 15% higher cost. We lived 28 years in Two Harbors and WM came there many years ago, bought out smaller vendors and initially had low prices. They soon raised them and are now the highest by far. I recommend Maher Trucking in Two Harbors -- excellent service and low cost.

WM is all that is wrong with getting too big. They are very large nationally and have the capital to come into market after market and take most of it over until there is little competition. Then they proceed to give lesser service levels while charging much more for that so-called "service". There should be some kind of law to stop them from doing this, considering that they are acting like a monopoly, for all intents and purposes.

We're very happy with the Nordic Waste services, and although they just raised our rates, they are still much lower than Waste Management is. The raise was caused by a 500% (times 5) rate increase in Nordic's recycling costs that they purchase from Howard Waste Paper -- and guess what -- Howard W. P. was recently purchased by Waste Mgmt. -- who then did the 500% rate increase to the company that is the best option we have -- there ought to be a law.

• Pros: Excellent Service, much less costly than Waste Mgmt.
• Cons: None that I am aware of.
